Improved communication

Renewed team cohesion

Mutual understanding
More inclusive work climate
Founded in 1937, Plan International is a development and humanitarian organisation that works together with children, young people, supporters and partners to strive for a just world, where we are all equal. To do this, it tackles the root causes of the challenges and inequalities that children and young girls face. Supporting children from birth until adulthood, it enables them to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity.

“We see a clear impact within the organisation. Participating in the workshops together also strengthened the atmosphere and trust between colleagues, which created a real sense of cohesion.”
In the wake of the pandemic, Plan International Belgium underwent extensive teleworking, internal reorganisations and the integration of new team members. These changes created an opportunity to rethink how people collaborated and to rebuild team cohesion.
Plan responded by proactively revitalising its culture, focusing on stronger relationships, more meaningful collaboration and a more resilient collective dynamic.
The overall goal was to restore a collective dynamic based on mutual understanding, trust and commitment that supported individual well-being and team effectiveness, and the objectives were to:
Plan International Belgium partnered with Make Me Fly, a certified Insights Discovery provider, to implement a structured programme designed to rebuild team cohesion and improve effectiveness.
The approach focused on strengthening self-awareness and mutual understanding as the foundation for more effective day-to-day collaboration. Crucially, the initiative involved all staff, including HR, team leaders and senior management. This full participation reinforced a shared culture grounded in understanding, cooperation and respect for differences.
Each participant completed their Insights Discovery Personal Profile, gaining a clear view of their preferences, communication style and behavioural patterns. Through the colour energies framework, the team developed a common language to understand how individuals operate, where friction can emerge and how complementary strengths can be used more deliberately.
The language of colour energies, central to the Insights Discovery method, is now embedded in everyday communication across Plan International Belgium.
With the support of Make Me Fly, this shared framework extended beyond the workshop into daily interactions, giving teams a consistent way to interpret behaviours, anticipate reactions and adjust their approach.
As a result, communication is more direct and effective. Misunderstandings decreased, feedback improved and collaboration increased. Teams were able to navigate differences with greater awareness and understanding.
The outcome is a more cohesive and self-aware organisation, operating with increased awareness and greater collaboration.
Make Me Fly and Insights delivered measurable impact:

A significant improvement in communication, particularly in the management of sensitive or complex situations

A renewed confidence and cohesion, felt and expressed by the employees themselves

The emergence of a common language, based on colour energies, now used naturally within teams and during meetings

A better mutual understanding, which contributes to a more serene, motivating and inclusive work climate
