What links a dance-off with a community hero? Meet Learning and Talent Advisor, Laura Cook...

  • What is Laura's Insights Discovery wheel position?

Laura's Insights Discovery wheel position is 45; this means she leads with Sunshine Yellow energy but also has a strong preference for Fiery Red and Cool Blue energy too.

From Laura's Insights Discovery Personal Profile we know that she:

    • Is a curious and keen student of all that is going on around her (and if you saw her school reports from when she was young you'd see that this hasn't changed over the years!)
    • Is inventive, independent and is very perceptive of the potential contained within the views of others
    • Constantly opens up new avenues of thought or action

  • If Laura were a country, what would she be and why?

Australia. On her visits to catch up with family and friends, she really connected with the multi-cultural, friendly, unique and adventurous culture that she found - fuelled by fine food and great wine of course! She is a lover of community and all things 'green', this is why Australia ticked all the boxes on many levels for her.

  • Laura's defining moment at Insights (so far)...

She would like to share two. The first was when she partnered with the UK Region Team to undertake a Learning Needs Analysis in order to deeply understand and support the continued growth of the team. This was a huge defining moment for her, and her learning, and was a great way for her to get to know everyone.

The second was attending her Insights Discovery Accreditation in Cheshire in May where she was able to nourish her brain and curiosity and meet loads of wonderful people.

  • Who is Laura's hero?

One of her favourite books of all time is 'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee. She just adores the timeless and well written prose and loves the depth of the very human storyline. The book plays to her passion for freedom and giving people the space and trust to do the right thing. As the author of only one novel and a fiercely private person, Harper Lee has refused to conform to societal norms and lets her work do the talking.

  • How you may meet Laura

Working in the People Team in our Dundee office, she spends her time bringing our People values and goals to life. Passionate about all things people-y, you'll find her developing great authentic conversations within teams and supporting colleagues to delve further into their Insights Discovery Profile.

  • Scratch the surface and you'll find

Even more of what's on the outside - she wears her heart on her sleeve each and every day. She cares deeply about people's experience of work here at Insights and loves nothing more than helping people achieve their goals.

At home she can be found challenging her fiance Chris to a dance-off, watching movies or following style and design blogs. After five busy years of studying business and human resources, she is now finding the time for long walks in and around Broughty Ferry, meeting up with friends and widening her cookery repertoire past her usual chicken salads!
