The Danfoss Group is a leader in the development and production of mechanical and electronic products and controls. There are over 18,000 employees, of which 6000 are based in Denmark.

Need

Part of Danfoss’ development strategy is to strengthen internal andexternal communication. Within this context, Danfoss selected Insights Denmark to elevate the importance of the leadership competencies among 28 managers from the Danish part of the Comfort Control Division. The assignment focused on the motivation of employees, improving the efficiency of teamwork and the understanding and use of management role models.

Danfoss sees it as an important managerial task to implement identical values and HR strategies throughout the organisation.

Solution

In August 2006 Insights started the project with a two day programme using “Personal Effectiveness in relations with people” as the basis for creating successful communication.

Participants were then invited to participate in two out of four workshops:

  • Coaching
  • Adapting your management style to different types of people
  • Effective communication
  • Assertiveness and authenticity

The programme ended with a one-day workshop for all participants called “The will to win”. This was about how to continue learning from the process and how to implement the changes.

The programme was underpinned by the Insights Discovery Personal Profile and a range of learning guides, to ensure personalised learning and continuous application post-programme. Each participant also received two coaching sessions.

Result

Discussions have started about how to extend this programme to other personnel in Eastern Europe and how to apply Insights Discovery morebroadly in the organisation.

Insights was selected by Danfoss as a cooperative partner, because the unique Insights concepts provided an effective and easy-to-use way of communicating to corporate management. Danfoss felt Insights had the perfect tools to support the promotion and implementation of their two new core values – “People development and leadership” and “Strong performance culture”.
